Happy Birthday, Mark!

Mark’s birthday was Saturday. The big 2-5. He is convinced that he has now entered old age. And after the weekend we has had, I’m feeling pretty old myself. Between all of our plans this weekend, I haven’t cooked all at all (outside of baking), and I haven’t gotten any work done. So it’s going to be a long week. But at least we won’t have anywhere to go, and I can stay home and get a lot done. Hopefully.

We spent most of today at Mark’s sister’s (and family’s) new home. They moved in a few weeks ago. Her and her fiance’ have a dog and a couple of cats. The fiance’ was working, but Mark’s mom was there. Becca spent the afternoon playing with her two cousin. The oldest boy (Julian) is a year older than her, and the youngest (Dylan) is a year younger, so it makes it a lot of fun. Julian and Becca played with balls outside, and chased the kitten around. Mark made lunch, and I got to play with the baby. He kept trying to eat my nose. I was blowing raspberries, and he was fascinated. I can’t wait to have another one.

Mark had a great birthday weekend. He and a friend went to a special showing of Ghostbusters 2 and Monster Squad, and we spent Sunday at my dad and step-mom’s camp, and then went out for dinner (fish fry. Yum). Over the three days Mark had off, we ate someplace beside home six times. I made carrot cake and chocolate peanut butter brownies. Both which are fabulous. The carrot cake recipe is from Joy of Cooking, with orange cream cheese frosting. That is Mark’s most favorite cake in the entire world, so I get talked into making it every few months. And the brownies are box-brownies, the kind with peanut butter cups in them. Before pouring the mix into my baking pan, I added in a huge spoon of melted peanut butter and stirred it up. It gave the brownies a slightly different texture, and it tastes just like chocolate PB fudge. Super Yum. And super easy.

I have a couple of really great posts planned out for this week. One about kids in restaurants, and one about being a work at home mom. After this boring “So, what did you do this weekend?” post, I figure you all deserve some interesting material. Especially if you are still reading this.

Hello….  Is anyone out there?

echo..

echo….

echo…….

Ha. Okay. Sorry. I’ll stop now. :P

Kids in restaurants? Is this story going to involve me running to hide in the corner? Lol….and do you still have any brownies left? I will gladly help you with that…if you want, I will trade the last no-bake cookie we have in the fridge for one….provided Dad doesn’t eat it in the morning lol
