Giving Thanks

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s Top Five Tuesday list features things that I am really, really grateful for. Because I really just can’t think of anything else to write about.

  1. My husband. Today is a perfect example of why I married him. He got up a little early so I could finish my work on time, and he’s currently running a van full of dead electronics and recyclables to the local recycling center. And then picking up cheese for tomorrow night’s dinner. Later, he is watching Becca while I take a long bath, and then he’s also taking lead on putting her to bed tonight. I get an (almost) day off. He also puts up with my horrible mandolin playing and my aversion to housework.
  2. My daughter(s). Whether it is Becca running around the house, or Fiona trying to run around my insides, I am constantly aware of how much my two little girls mean to me. Becca has brought so much into my life, and I can’t wait to see how Fiona adds to that.
  3. My job. I get paid to work at home, in my pajamas. And I’m usually sitting in my recliner while doing it. You can’t find perks like that in the “real” work world. I also get to work with some fascinating people, and I get paid to write. I love what I do.
  4. Mark’s job (and my uncle, who helped get him hired). I get to stay at home with Becca, work very part time, and we still don’t starve. In fact, we’re doing fairly well, for being a young one-income (mostly) household. Mark works a lot of hours, but he’s paid well and the benefits are great. I still miss him being home on the weekends, but I like seeing more of him during the week. And there’s a lot of potential for moving up in the company, which is what he was looking for.
  5. Family. There’s nothing like having a sister who’ll listen to you complain, or having a dad and step-mom who’ll go the extra mile to get your ornery van fixed. There’s also nothing like have a child-expert for a sister, who can answer almost all of my questions about Becca. This was really, really useful when Becca was a lot younger. I had no idea what I was doing (okay, I kinda did), and she knew just about everything. And there are other family members who’ve helped out along the way.. I haven’t forgotten, I just can’t list everything here.

Of course, I am also thankful for chocolate, banana split sundaes (or any sundae. Or any ice cream, really…), and good books. :)
