Dear Kid Saturday: Happy, Happy, Happy

by Margo on June 7, 2009

Dear Becca,

You have learned the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” The word that has stuck with you, though, is “Happy.” You have begun using it. A lot.

I’m not sure you really understand what it means, but you’ve gotten the idea that it is a good thing. When you get excited, you start in.

“Happy, happy, happy, happy….”

You also use it to convey that you would like to do something. As in, please, mom, let me climb onto the table, and get into your water.

“Happy, happy, happy, happy….”

It’s so much fun to hear you try out new words. You are such a smart little girl (sometimes too smart!), and you are always learning. You love to sing, dance, and climb. You are constantly amazing your father and myself. We laugh at your crazy hi-jinx. We scold you when you do something dangerous. But, secretly, we are in awe of all the things you come up with. You are still young enough that we get to take most of the credit for your intelligence. And we are reveling in it.

Love,
Mom
