Dear Kid Saturday: An Evening With Your Aunts

Dear Becca,

Aunt Sam came home from college Thursday. While it had only been a week since she had last seen you, she already missed you. So I wasn’t surprised when she called me yesterday morning, asking if her and Aunt Shannon could borrow you for a while. I agreed, of course, and we set up the details.

At 5:15, about five minutes after we returned from the park, Aunt Sam showed up. She even had a gift for you, a wildlife poster signed by Jarod Miller, the wildlife show host. He did a presentation up at her college, and she got to meet him, and a few of his animal friends.

Aunt Shannon showed up a few minutes later, and we all headed out. As it turns out, I was invited too. We drove to the ice cream stand. You got a vanilla and black raspberry twist in a bowl. But we all shared ours with you, as well. Aunt Sam got a chocolate banana flurry, with caramel, and Shannon got cotton candy ice cream. You liked theirs better than your own.

We got a lot of pictures:

After you ate your ice cream, Aunt Sam (who is studying to become an ecologist) spent some time showing you the trees.

After we left the ice cream stand, we went home, grabbed the stroller, and walked down with Aunt Sam (Aunt Shannon had to go home) to see Aunt Katie at work. She was very happy to see you, and didn’t get a lot of work done while we were there.

By the time we got home, you were more than ready for some quiet time. You had so much fun, though. It has been very rainy and cold during the past several days, making it hard for us to get outside to play. Between the evening with your aunts, and the afternoon at the park, you had a very full and exciting day.

All of these pictures, by the way, are because we got our digital camera this week. At first, you weren’t to sure about the weird little thing I kept carrying around. Within a day, though. you were really hamming it up for the camera. What a goof you are!

Becca, this was such a fun week. Your personality has been really shining through, lately. And it is so much fun to see the little girl you are becoming.

Love,

Mommy
