Dear Kid Saturday- A Day at the Park

by Margo on March 21, 2009

Dear Becca,

What a fun and exciting week we had! It was finally warm enough to go outside to enjoy the spring weather. Aunt Sam was home from college last weekend, so we all met up at the park by Grandma Sheila and Grampa Tracy’s home to play before she had to go back. We bought you a new Tigger and Pooh kite, which Daddy played with, and we brought along your new bike. Grandma and Grampa were there, of course, and so was Aunt Sam, Aunt Shannon, and Aunt Katie. Great Grampa Rogers even came over for a few minutes. You made me so happy when you went to him without any fuss. He doesn’t see you very often. When he left to go back home, you said goodbye, and blew him lots of kisses.

You went down the slide a couple times, but you don’t care for that yet. What you loved the most was getting to run around the grass. It’s only a small park, but you have never had that much space to run in. When we went to the park last year, you weren’t that interested in wandering around yet…

We went to a different park tuesday, after Daddy went to work. It was just me and you, on our first walk of the season. I was surpised at how crowded the park was. There must have been 50 kids there, at least. As soon as you got used to being there, I couldn’t slow you down. You walked up to, and had a conversation with, another mom who was there. You even got concerned about her daughter’s coat being on the ground. And then you found another little girl, about a year older than you, to chase around. Her daddy and I laughed as she ran around the field, you scrambling after her as fast as you could. After they left, I tried to interest you in your ball and bubbles, but you wanted nothing to do with me. There were some (much older) boys playing football near by, and you wanted to play to. Before I caught you, you had walked into the middle of their game, and were busy trying to get their attention. One of the boys led you back to me. You were not happy.

After a little more playing, we packed up and headed home. You sure fell right to sleep when it was bedtime. It’s going to be a very exciting summer for us, and I can’t wait!

Love,

Mommy
