About the Writer Mom
Hello, my name is Margo.
I am a work at home mom in Central New York, trying to find balance between my roles of mom, wife, and writer. I have a daughter, Becca, who is almost a year and a half old, who keeps my days happy and hectic. I am married to my best friend. Mark and I have been together three years, and I’ve never loved him more.
I grew up surrounded by farms, three miles (3.3 from the main street stoplight) from town. I am the oldest of three sisters and one brother. I also have step sister, and a step brother. I have worked on a couple of farms, as a clerk, sandwich maker, and ice cream server, and as a cook and hostess at the local Applebee’s. I am one credit short of a general studies degree, but I plan on returning to college eventually to get a business and marketing degree. I left my job at the resturaunt in October of 2007 to be a stay at home mom when our daughter was born.
The day after Becca’s first birthday, I went back to work, this time as a freelance writer. My job allows me to work from home, usually in my pajamas, while spending time with my daughter. I specialize in website content creation and professional blogging, but I am hoping to branch out into copy writing, press releases, and reviews. I am also teaching myself Search Engine Optimization and Marketing, as well as how to build a website.
I love my career, and find it both challenging and rewarding. I enjoy the sense of fulfillment and accomplishment I get from finishing a piece of writing. I miss spending all day with time just for Becca, but I have no desire to give up the 4-5 hours a day that I work, mostly while she is sleeping.
When I am not working, I enjoy reading, relaxing, and spending time with my family. I am a struggling housekeeper, and a fantastic chef, and I am always looking for new ways to save money and save the planet. While I am not “green” (by any stretch of the imagination) I am trying to slowly work towards improving the Earth-friendliness of our household.
Please read along, and join into the discussion, as I travel through the challenges and triumphs of being a work at home mom and wife. Thanks for stopping by!
